Officers were dispatched to the entrance ramp for the westbound side of I-40 from Central Pike on Tuesday evening.

A contractor with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) had reportedly been picking up trash in the area when they discovered a crashed vehicle in the woodline.

Investigators believe Jeffrey Weir, 62, of Lebanon, was traveling westbound when he lost control of his Ford Fusion. The car crossed lanes of travel, struck a guardrail, continued down an embankment and came to rest in the woods, according to a release.

Weir was reported missing by his family to the Lebanon Police Department earlier Tuesday after they hadn’t seen him since Saturday.

No additional information was immediately released.
