Springdale Police believes the driver of a 2023 Volvo semi-truck was on the exit ramp, entered the emergency shoulder and struck the Kenworth. It is alleged by authorities that the strike caused Hayes to fall and become trapped under the right rear tires of his own vehicle.

Although first responders arrived and removed Hayes from under the vehicle, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
