Migrant wanted after allegedly trying to kill another migrant in Cheektowaga
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Cheektowaga Police are looking for a migrant staying in Erie County who is wanted for allegedly trying to kill another migrant over a dispute involving a woman.
The suspect is on the loose and believed to be armed and dangerous as of Friday night, according to police.
Police were called Sunday to the Quality Inn on Genesee Street for a report of a man at the front desk bleeding from his head. Police say the suspect showed up to the hotel, pulled a rifle on the victim and pulled the trigger. The victim told police the gun misfired. The suspect then pistol-whipped the victim and took off, according to police.
The victim will recover. Police say the suspect was staying at another migrant housing location at the Red Roof Inn in Amherst. Cheektowaga police say they were informed a day later both men had been removed from the local migrant housing program.
Representatives from DocGo, the company that runs the housing program, say that they immediately contacted law enforcement after this happened and confirmed that both men have been removed from local housing.
The suspect remains on the loose as of Friday night.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
