MLB Mascot Race Features British Runners at London Mets-Phillies Game The Major League Baseball (MLB) tradition of a mascot race featured new participants on Saturday, June 8, as the New York Mets took on the Philadelphia Phillies at London Stadium. Footage taken by Gareth Milner shows Henry VIII, Winston Churchill, a King’s Guardsman, and Freddie Mercury engaged in a footrace between innings on Saturday. Despite his late start, Freddie Mercury is seen crossing the finish line first. The Mets and Phillies will play again on Sunday as part of the MLB London Series 2024.
