MNPD security guard charged with stealing gun
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A civilian security guard with the Metro Nashville Police Department has been charged with stealing a firearm that was turned in by a citizen at the headquarters guard station.
According to MNPD, Justin Hawkins, 42, called dispatch asking for a Hermitage Precinct officer to pick up the citizen’s two unwanted firearms.

The next morning, Hawkins, a seven-year employee, gave only one handgun and ammunition to the responding officer. When she inquired about the second weapon, Hawkins reportedly retrieved it from his personal backpack and admitted he intended on keeping it.
He was charged with theft of a firearm and is currently out on a $1,500 bond, according to MNPD.
