Mobile Police arrest suspect in Fern Valley Road shooting

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A local man was arrested Thursday in connection with a Wednesday morning shooting on Fern Valley Road, according to the Mobile Police Department.

33-year-old Anthony Mikail Benjamin of Mobile was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle.

According to an MPD news release, officers were called to the 5800 block of Fern Valley Road around 1 a.m. July 3 for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound and took him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

Officers said they found that the victim had been in an argument with a known person before he was shot.
