Mold concerns at Cheektowaga senior living complex after recent storms
CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – There are concerns of possible mold exposure inside a Cheektowaga senior living complex.
A tenant who lives there says she has had water leaking into her apartment for days — so she contacted Call 4 Action.
Kathy Mather lives at Williamstowne Senior Apartments — melting from the storms last week has been seeping into her apartment.
Kathy showed News 4 the damage inside her apartment. She says this has been happening for nearly a week. Kathy’s been using a bucket to collect the water and has been using a fan and a wet vacuum to try to dry out.

Kathy also tells us that she has health concerns such as a severe mold allergy. She contacted the front office to make repairs but those still haven’t happened, so News 4 made a call earlier on Thursday. Then, a crew was sent to her apartment.
“I got the feeling that maybe your office called to tell them that you were coming or asking a question about it and then they came over here and said ‘oh we’ll take care of it’ so I hope they do,” Mather said.
News 4 paid a visit to the property manager at Williamstowne Senior Apartments. We were then told to contact their corporate office, which turned out to be the wrong one, then we were given a number that was out of service. Then, we were finally put in touch with the regional operations manager, who says they’re waiting to see what Kathy and her family want to do about other possible living arrangements, then they’ll come up with a plan to fix the damage.
“The problem is we have these winters in Western New York, so they know snow is coming they could be taking action installing roof coils things like that to prevent this this didn’t have to happen,” Mather said.
