More than Topgolf: A second golf outlet is planned at Louisville's Oxmoor Center mall

Louisville's Oxmoor Center is about to become a destination for local golf fans, and Topgolf's planned opening isn't the only reason.

Puttshack, an "upscale, tech-infused mini golf experience," is coming to the eastern Louisville mall, according to a release published Tuesday morning. The outlet is expected to open in early 2024 at the Oxmoor Center, at 7900 Shelbyville Road.

Puttshack will occupy a 25,000-square-foot space inside the mall, according to the release, with an outdoor patio that can seat up to 56 people along with a private event space and two full-service bars. The company is the "latest leading concept" from the founders of Topgolf, the release said, with four "highly competitive, tech-driven" nine-hole mini golf courses planned at the Louisville outlet.

Puttshack CEO Joe Vrankin said company officials "look forward to bringing the all-encompassing Puttshack experience to this growing city.”

“Known for its authentic regional experience and southern hospitality, Louisville is the ideal market to tap into our triple threat approach across our tech-infused game, remarkable food and beverage offerings and high-energy entertainment,” Vrankin said in the release.

The game of golf has a growing presence at the mall. Puttshack's announcement Tuesday comes as Topgolf prepares to open its first Louisville outlet at the Oxmoor Center. That facility, with three stories of golf bays, event spaces and bars, is set to open Friday.

Other Puttshack locations can be found in Atlanta and Chicago, the release said, and the company has plans to open other outlets this year at major cities including Denver, Houston and Nashville.
