Moredock named city's corporation counsel; mayor selects other directors

Greg Moredock, current general counsel for the Illinois Municipal League, has been named corporation counsel for the city, said Mayor Misty Buscher in a news release Monday.

Moredock will join the city on June 1.

Moredock has been with the IML since November. Prior to that, he was in private law practice.

Moredock takes over for James Zerkle, who recently retired.

James Sullivan was named director of the city's information systems division and had been manager of technical support and has been with the city since 2004.

Several interim directors were also named.

Former Ward 7 Ald. Debbie Thompson will head the human resources department.

Thompson is also the former City Water, Light & Power administrative services director and is vice president of the St. Patrick's Day parade committee.

He is the nephew of current city clerk Frank Lesko, though Mike Lesko started with the city in 1996.

Mike Lesko was named as interim city purchasing agent. Lesko is the current CWLP purchasing agent.

Mike Lelys takes over as the interim executive director of Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Lelys previously served in that role from 2011 to 2019.

Buscher named several directors and chiefs last week.
