New Orleans East fatal shooting under investigation
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and killed in New Orleans East early Wednesday.
Around 1:23 a.m. on July 31, officers said they were called to the corner of South Interstate 10 and Crowder Boulevard to a possible hit-and-run.

Upon arrival, it was determined that a man, identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office as 42-year-old Christopher Cooke, had been shot and killed after finding the unresponsive victim on the scene. Officers said they later reclassified the crime as a homicide after an investigation revealed that he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds
EMS pronounced him dead on the scene.

The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
