Mother tells judge she didn’t know handcuffing son was illegal
ASHLAND, Ohio (WJW) — A mother facing an endangering children charge told a judge that she did not know it was illegal to handcuff a child.
Angelina Williams appeared in court in Ashland County on Wednesday. Ashland County Prosecutor Chris Tunnell said Williams and two other co-defendants handcuffed the child on Saturday because he did not clean up after a dog. Shortly after the boy was handcuffed, he was attacked by a pit bull.

“This defendant and the co-defendants handcuffed him, both hands, and then applied a second set of cuffs to his feet,” Tunnell told the judge during the hearing. “They were in the process of using a rope to try and tie him to a chair when he came off the chair and then, while on the ground, was attacked by a pit bull.”
Williams told the judge she didn’t know she did anything wrong.
“The dog is not even my dog. The cuffs are not even my cuffs,” Williams said in court. “ I didn’t even know the cuffs were illegal or anything was wrong with it. My uncle told me it was OK.”
The 6-year-old was bit on the neck and ear. The child was flown to a hospital for treatment.

Williams’ bond was set at $300,000. She and the other two co-defendants, Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown and the owner of the dog, Robert Michalski, remain in jail. All three face endangering children charges.
Marvin-Brown’s bond was set at $250,000 and Michalski’s bond was set at $150,000.
“I never meant any harm,” Williams said. “I really didn’t.”
The prosecutor said Williams did not have custody of her son or her daughter, but the children were with her for a visit when the incident took place.
All three defendants are due back in court soon to face the charges.
