EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Watch moments before a motorcyclist was injured in a crash involving a Mobile Police officer

UPDATE (11:00 p.m.): News 5 has obtained doorbell video moments leading up to the crash.

In the video, you can see the motorcycle going westbound on Old Shell Road; when the motorcycle is out of frame, you can hear the brakes screech and the crash occur.

Robert Smith lives on Old Shell Road, and says he was in the shower at the time of the accident.

However, when he went outside to check out the scene, he was shocked to see the slow response time to help the motorcyclist.

“I can understand non-medically trained people not wanting to move a body after a traumatic event like that. Everybody was standing back a little bit, and it did take a while for the medical personnel to get here, in my opinion,” Smith said.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A motorcyclist was injured in a crash involving a Mobile Police Department officer, News 5 has learned.

According to a department spokesperson, officers with the MPD responded to the crash in the area of Old Shell Road and Mobile Infirmary Boulevard around 10:53 p.m. last night.

Following the crash, the motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries; the officer was not injured, according to the MPD spokesperson.
