Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision with truck in Geauga County

BURTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — A 49-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a truck on Friday afternoon in Geauga County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened just before 5 p.m. along Clairdon-Troy Road just south of the Tavern Road intersection, in Burton Township, according to the patrol.

The man killed was identified as 49-year-old Benjamin Derousse of Mantua, according to a news release.
Derousse was traveling south on Clairdon-Troy Road. He was in the northbound lane, passing two cars, when he struck a pickup truck driven by a 55-year-old person from Aurora, according to the release.
Derousse’s motorcycle went off the left side of the road and struck a ditch, ejecting him. He died of his injuries at the scene, according to the release. He was not wearing a helmet.
It’s unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
