Movie trailer released for Webster writer’s upcoming film, ‘The Christmas Letter’
WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Local writer and Webster resident Mike Cunningham is taking a true story to the big screen.
News 8 previously sat down with Cunningham, who wrote the script for The Christmas Letter. The movie was largely shot around the Utica area over the last year or so, near his hometown of Ilion, N.Y.
It features special appearances from the original stars of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, such as Chevy Chase, Randy Quaid, and Brian Doyle-Murray.
As Cunningham describes, it tells the true story of letters he had written with a pen pal overseas during the course of the holidays.
Cunningham says the film was presented at Cannes Film Festival, and was met with an overwhelming positive response.
The Christmas Letter will be in select theaters this Christmas.
