Nearly all of Wisconsin's DNC delegates endorse Kamala Harris
WASHINGTON – Nearly all of Wisconsin's delegates to the Democratic National Convention next month have pledged their support to Vice President Kamala Harris to become the party's presidential nominee, the state party's chairman said Monday.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler said 89 of the state's 95 delegates had declared their support for Harris as of mid-afternoon on Monday. He said the party had either not been in contact with the outstanding delegates or those who had not yet pledged were "thinking through the timeline to make a public decision."
"The level of unity and energy is through the roof," Wikler told reporters, saying he knows of "no delegate who plans to vote against Vice President Harris."
The announcement from Wisconsin comes just one day after President Joe Biden announced he planned to withdraw from the race and endorsed Harris in the process. Wisconsin's top Democrats quickly coalesced around Harris, though the state party had refrained from making an immediate endorsement.
Wisconsin's delegates held a call Sunday night to discuss next steps, multiple people told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and about 80 of the state's delegates attended. One participant said delegates were told they were no longer bound to Biden after his decision to drop out and were free to vote for whomever they wished.
But nearly every delegate who spoke on the Sunday call, the person said, voiced support for Harris.

On Monday, Wikler said the party's governing body voted unanimously to officially endorse Harris. He said the party raised more than $140,000 from nearly 2,000 donors in the 24 hours since Harris announced her campaign, adding that state Democrats raised more than $300,000 in the last week.
The wave of support from Wisconsin Democrats also comes as Harris is set to visit Milwaukee Tuesday in what will be her first campaign stop of her two-day-old presidential campaign.
State convention delegations in New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee have already pledged their unanimous support for Harris.
