Neenah Police Department informs public of vehicle safety on hot summer days

NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – With the safety of children and pets in mind, officials with the Neenah Police Department are informing the public to check the temperatures inside their vehicles on hot summer days.

According to a Facebook post, police say people should leave their pets at home on hot summer days and should check the temperatures of the seats inside their vehicle before leaving the vehicle.

Temperatures recorded recently by police from the dashboard and seats in the department’s CSA truck reportedly reached 166.1 and 105.

Officers add that it took just minutes to reach these temperatures and that all it takes is a few minutes inside a hot car to have deadly consequences for children and pets.
