Netflix releases official trailer for graphic novel adaptation 'Nimona' starring Riz Ahmed, Eugene Lee Yang

Netflix released the official trailer for its upcoming animated film “Nimona” on Wednesday.

About “Nimona”: The film follows a shapeshifter named Nimona (voiced by Chlo? Grace Moretz) and her unlikely friendship with the villainous Ballister Blackheart (voiced by Riz Ahmed).

“A knight is framed for a crime he didn't commit, and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he's sworn to kill,” the film’s synopsis states.

“Nimona” is based on the popular award-winning webcomic and graphic novel of the same name by ND Stevenson, which was first published in 2012.

Key people: Nick Bruno and Troy Quane directed the film using a screenplay by Robert L. Baird and Lloyd Taylor. Stevenson, Karen Ryan, Julie Zackary and Roy Lee served as the film’s producers.

In addition to Moretz and Ahmed, the film’s voice cast includes Eugene Lee Yang as the knight Ambrosius Goldenloin, Frances Conroy as The Director, Lorraine Toussaint as Queen Valerin, Beck Bennett as Sir Thoddeus Sureblade, Indya Moore as Alamzapam Davis, RuPaul Charles as Nate Knight, Julio Torres as Diego the Squire and Sarah Sherman as Coriander Cadaverish.

Release date: “Nimona” will be made available for streaming on Netflix on June 30.
