The claim: Lady Gaga endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2024
A July 2 Instagram post (direct link, archive link) shows a screenshot of a supposed Truth Social post from the pop star Lady Gaga.
“I am proud to announce my endorsement of Donald J. Trump for president of the United States!” reads the supposed post. “America is struggling, and we need someone who knows what they’re doing to help us back up. ReTruth to share! #Truth #Trump”
The post was liked more than 15,000 times in three days. The claim also spread on TikTok.

Gaga does not have an official Truth Social account, nor has she publicly offered an endorsement for the 2024 presidential race. She has publicly criticized former President Donald Trump and supported his opponents in past presidential elections. She also performed at President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021.
Gaga publicly supported Clinton, Biden against Trump in past presidential elections
Gaga does not have an official account on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform. The @ladygaga username featured in the post has less than 25 followers and no posts as of July 5.
The image in the post dates to November 2020 and was taken during Gaga’s speech in support of Biden at a rally in Pennsylvania. During the speech, she told voters, “Now is your chance to vote against Donald Trump.”
She included a clip of her speech in a later tweet that tagged Trump and included the hashtag “#VoteBiden.”

Gaga supported Trump's impeachment following the attack on the U.S. Capitol in January 2021 and suggested he should be disqualified from holding office in the future. That same month, she performed the national anthem at Biden’s inauguration.
The White House announced in April 2023 that Gaga was one of several celebrity members of the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, which advises the president on cultural issues, USA TODAY reported.
Gaga supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race. She has not given public statements about her preferred candidate in the 2024 election.
USA TODAY reached out to the user who shared the post for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
