The claim: McDonald’s said there is ‘no record’ of Kamala Harris working there

An Aug. 31 Facebook post (direct link, archive link) shows a headshot of Vice President Kamala Harris next to a McDonald's sign.

"McDONALD's CORPORATE has come forth and said they have no record whatsoever of KAMALA HARRIS ever working at any of their locations," reads text in the post, which is a screenshot of a post on Truth Social. "TRUTH - WHEN EVEN McDONALD'S WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU, IT'S TIME TO THROW IN THE TOWEL!"

Students for Trump chairman Ryan Fournier also made this claim on X, saying on Aug. 29, "McDonald's Corporate sources have come forth and said they have no record of Kamala Harris working at any of their locations."

The Facebook post was shared more than 20,000 times in nine days.

Our rating: False

McDonald's has not made any statement about whether Harris worked at the restaurant.

Trump, others claim Harris is lying about McDonald's job

Harris, who is the Democratic nominee for president, has said she worked at McDonald's when she was in college. She has spoken about the experience on several occasions, and her campaign also mentioned it in a recent political ad.

Former President Donald Trump and others have claimed she isn't telling the truth.

But there is no evidence McDonald's has weighed in on the credibility of Harris' statement. There are no credible news reports about the restaurant chain making a statement about Harris, and nothing resembling the statement appears on the chain's social media accounts or website. Fournier offered no evidence for his claim on X and didn't respond to a request for comment.

USA TODAY previously debunked the false claim that McDonald's confirmed Harris worked at one of the chains but was fired for stealing.

USA TODAY reached out to McDonald's and the Facebook user who shared the post for comment but did not immediately receive responses.
