North Alabama chocolate shop named best in US by USA Today

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A North Alabama chocolate shop is receiving national recognition for its artisan chocolate confections.

Pizzelle’s Confections, located off of Clinton Avenue in the Campus 805 student union building, was named the best chocolate shop in the US by USA Today.

The shop recently moved from Lowe Mill, where it began as a way for co-owner Michelle Novosel to showcase her artistic abilities. The move allowed that artist to have a larger canvas

“We just needed to spread our wings a little bit,” said Novosel. “We are going to work on having some cocktails and wine and chocolate, we’ve always wanted to do that. We wanted to be open more hours, more days a week and just be accessible to a new customer base.”

While the shop has been recognized as the best chocolate in America, making eye-popping and artisan chocolate wasn’t always the plan for Novosel.

“I went through and had many different career paths,” said Novosel. “Just kind of settled on one thing in my 30s, I was like ‘Okay we are going to do this’ and started Pizzelle’s Confections.”

Nowadays, Pizzelle’s makes nearly 20 flavors of chocolate daily, but what is their secret to success?

“Pizzelle’s is more than a chocolate shop, it’s an experience,” said Novosel. “When people come in they get to experience a little bit of everything. From the music to the laughter to the names of our chocolates to the colorful artistic chocolates that we have.”

Pizzelle’s is located at 2500 Clinton Avenue, Suite D, Huntsville, Alabama, 35640.
