Numerous boxes of Claritin recovered in Target theft bust
(KRON) – A Sacramento resident was arrested on a grand theft charge after allegedly stealing a massive amount of Claritin Allergy Relief and other items, according to the Colma Police Department.
At 9:05 p.m. on June 14, Colma police officers responded to a Target in the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard for an active suspected theft. Store employees informed police that a man stole multiple items and fled through the parking lot.

Colma officers located a suspect nearby and arrested him after Target’s loss prevention officer identified the suspect. Police found suspected fentanyl and a Xanax pill in a search of the suspect. According to Colma PD, the suspect did not have a valid prescription for the pill.
The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Sacramento resident John McDowall. According to the police investigation, McDowall had a $500,000 felony warrant, and a $110,000 and $5,000 misdemeanor warrant for his arrest from a neighboring agency. McDowall also had an active $5,000 misdemeanor warrant for his arrest in Colma.
According to Colma PD, McDowall stole approximately $1,920.78 worth of merchandise.
McDowall was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for having a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance without a prescription, grand theft and his outstanding warrants.
