Obama mocks Trump over crowd size in new Harris campaign ad
The Harris campaign on Tuesday unveiled a new ad using one of former President Trump’s chief rivals to mock him over his fixation on crowd size.
The ad, titled “Crowd Size,” features footage of former President Barack Obama’s remarks at the Democratic National Convention in which Obama said Trump was a “78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems.”
The ad cuts to Trump at a rally, talking derisively about the crowds Vice President Harris had drawn at her campaign events before cutting back to Obama’s speech.
“This weird obsession with crowd sizes,” Obama said in his remarks, making a gesture with his hands that appeared to mock Trump’s manhood.
The ad, which will be launched the morning of the debate between Trump and Harris, will air nationally, including on Fox News. It will also air in West Palm Beach, Fla., where Trump resides, and Philadelphia, where the debate is taking place.
“Trump spends a lot of time concerned about his crowd sizes, but the American people are far more concerned about which candidate will make their lives better – and it’s not the guy running on the Project 2025 agenda,” Harris campaign communications director Michael Tyler said in a statement.
“Tonight’s debate will present the stark choice Americans will face at the ballot box: between Vice President Harris who is fighting for the people to make our lives better, and the guy who can’t seem to stop obsessing about himself and the size of his crowds,” he added.
The ad marks the latest attempt by the Harris campaign to get under Trump’s skin. Democrats have repeatedly labeled Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), as “weird” and jabbed the former president over the enthusiastic crowds Harris has drawn since entering the race.
