Ohio Lottery jackpot skyrockets to historic size: The odds of winning it

(WJW) – Less than a month ago, the Ohio Lottery reported back-to-back winners of the Rolling Cash 5 jackpot. But, since then, the daily drawing game has hit a bit of a dry spell, sending the jackpot skyrocketing to a historic size.

According to the Ohio Lottery, as of Friday, the Rolling Cash 5 jackpot sits at $874,000.

Lottery officials tell FOX 8 the largest Rolling Cash 5 jackpot ever won previously was earlier this year on March 7, 2024. The jackpot at the time was $850,010.

The jackpot starts at $100,000 and grows every time there isn’t a 5 of 5 winner. The increase is based on sales or a minimum of $10,000, which ever is greater, says the Ohio Lottery.

The odds of hitting the Rolling Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 575,757. The odds may sound slim but in August, not one but five Ohio Lottery players were lucky enough to beat those odds all at the same time. Lottery rules stated the five winners had to split the winnings equally.
