Olivia Nuzzi And New York Magazine Part Ways
New York magazine said that it has parted ways with Olivia Nuzzi following the disclosure that she had a “personal” relationship with a subject. That person was later identified as Robert Kennedy Jr.
Nuzzi has been on leave from the magazine since last month, as it conducted an outside review of her work.

In a statement, the magazine said that the law firm Davis Wright Tremaine “reached the same conclusion as the magazine’s initial internal review of her published work, finding no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias. Nevertheless, the magazine and Nuzzi agreed that the best course forward is to part ways. Nuzzi is a uniquely talented writer and we have been proud to publish her work over her nearly eight years as our Washington Correspondent. We wish her the best.”
Nuzzi said in a statement last month, “Earlier this year, the nature of some communication between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal. During that time, I did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source.
“The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict,” she said. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York.”
Kennedy dropped out of the race earlier this year and has endorsed Donald Trump.
Last week, a District of Columbia judge set Nov. 19 as a trial date to consider a petition that Nuzzi filed for a protective order from her former fiance, Ryan Lizza, per The Washington Post. Lizza has taken a leave of absence from that publication.
