One dead, another injured after shooting, pursuit on west side of Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead and another person is hospitalized after a shooting and pursuit on the west side of Columbus Sunday night.
According to a Columbus police dispatcher, the shooting happened on the 700 block of South Ogden Avenue at approximately 10:19 p.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:25 p.m. He was later identified as 28-year-old John Wilks.

According to a Columbus police spokesperson, a car fled the scene toward Sullivant Avenue, where it was found by a police helicopter, with a suspect running from the car. When officers arrived at the vehicle, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound inside. She was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
The suspect was spotted on Columbian Avenue and taken into custody just after 11:30 p.m. A firearm was recovered when the suspect was caught. He was taken to the hospital with minor injures and no one else was injured during the incident.
CPD released an update Monday morning identifying Wilks as the victim and 18-year-old Mehki Miller as the alleged shooter. The two were reportedly involved in a dispute before shots were fired.
