One dead, one injured in Parsons shooting
PARSONS, Kan. — A late-night shooting in Parsons leaves one man dead, another injured and a third man in custody.
Around 11 last night, Parsons Police responded to the 2300 of Appleton, where they found Tyler Epshire lying in the street bleeding. First responders took him to Labette Health, but he has since been transported to a Wichita hospital.
While searching the area, officers say they found Michael Morales, 48, of Parsons hiding behind a tree. They say he was holding a gun. Police took him into custody and say he tried to pull away, forcing them to use a taser.
Officers searched a nearby home in connection to the case and that’s where they say they found the body of Maurice Harper.
Investigators say the suspect and two victims knew each other, but they’re still working to determine their connection or what might have led up to the shooting.
Morales is being held in the Parsons City Jail on multiple allegations including first-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges.
