One dead, one injured after tree falls through front of Wyoming County house
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person is dead and another is injured after an “extremely large” tree fell through a Town of Castile house Friday morning, according to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services.
Officials say they were called to the 3925 Thompson Ave. residence just after 10:10 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a partially collapsed home and two victims trapped inside who were staying there through Airbnb.
One victim was pronounced deceased at Wyoming County Community Health System after being transported there by ambulance, according to officials. The other victim was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital and remains hospitalized.
Officials said the house will undergo an emergency demolition Friday night. NYSEG, RGE and the villages, towns and tree removal companies are expected to clear the area and restore power.
