One killed in Sulphur officer-involved shooting identified
UPDATE: SULPHUR, La. (KLFY)– Mark Hayden Jr., 37, of Sulphur was killed in the shooting, according to Louisiana State Police.
Authorities said the Sulphur Police Department was investigating an earlier domestic incident involving Hayden. Hayden left the scene of the domestic incident before officers arrived, but was later located. During the encounter, Hayden sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted in processing the scene.
ORIGINAL: SULPHUR, La. (KLFY)– One person was killed in an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the 600 block of South Kent Street in Sulphur Thursday evening.
The Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division were requested by the Sulphur Police Department to investigate the incident that happened just after 6 p.m. Thursday evening. State Police said no officers were harmed during the shooting.
This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be shared when made available.
