Suspect surrenders after Washington Avenue SWAT roll

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department were on the scene of a SWAT roll on Thursday, July 25.
The NOPD reported a man, identified by police as Brandon Laurant, barricaded himself inside a home in the 1800 block of Washington Avenue while a U.S. Marshals Task Force was serving a warrant around 1:21 p.m.

NOPD officials said the warrant was related to “an attempted murder incident in Jefferson Parish.”
Laurant reportedly surrendered to police around 3:10 p.m. He was arrested and faces charges of attempted murder, flight from an officer, aggravated criminal damage to property, theft and felony drug and weapon violations.

According to the NOPD, two additional people were found inside the home, and an “investigation is ongoing regarding these subjects’ involvement.”
