‘Armed, dangerous’ suspect in St. Roch area homicide arrested

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department has found and arrested the man accused in a deadly St. Roch area shooting.
On Thursday, Aug. 15, NOPD officers announced they were searching for 31-year-old Erick Garrison who is accused of shooting and killing 32-year-old Brandon Hayward in the 3100 block of St. Roch Avenue.
The shooting happened on Aug. 3 at 12:46 a.m.
Responding officers reported finding Hayward lying in the median suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Through an investigation, detectives identified Garrison as the suspect who’s wanted for second-degree murder.
NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad detectives, with the help of the United States Marshals NOLA Task Force, said Garrison was found in the Dallas, Texas area. Through the help of the Dallas Task Force, he was arrested and is currently being held as a fugitive.
