New Orleans’ Seabrook Bridge closed due to structural wear
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Drivers who take the Seabrook Bridge will have to find a detour, now that structural wear has been discovered.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reported the bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic starting Thursday, March 14 due to upcoming maintenance work.

The work comes after the bridge was hit by a passing vessel in 2023, leading to a closure to make emergency repairs to stabilize the bridge to support one lane of traffic in each direction.
According to the DOTD, a recent inspection revealed the integrity of the bridge’s support system was showing additional wear.

Workers are currently in the final stages of a design project that will repair the bridge structure to enable full traffic.
The DOTD is advising drivers to detour via US 90 at Chef Menteur Boulevard and Interstate 10.
