Oscar nominees arrive for Hollywood Reporter party

STORY: ‘Spencer’ star Kristen Stewart, ‘West Side Story’s Ariana DeBose and ‘Belfast’ star Ciaran Hinds were among the names posing for photographers at trendy Spago.

DeBose - who’s up for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Academy Awards - was using the opportunity to highlight the need for diversity in the industry:

"It's a blessing to be a witness to progress, you know. There's a lot of things that we have to work on, but I think this is a season that shows the industry that we're willing to have conversations and take steps forward to make a more inclusive space” DeBose said.

The star - who identifies as queer and is a vocal supporter of LGBTQ+ rights - also gave her thoughts on a controversial bill in Florida preventing classroom discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity, known commonly as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill.

“I myself sent several emails today and started many conversations, and I've been really excited that again, people are listening and there are actually steps being taken to try and rally around our communities in Florida and to support these young people because it's about our young people. At the end of the day, child abuse is child abuse” DeBose said.
