Over 100 groups participate in sixth annual East Side Garden Walk
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Over 100 groups put their best green thumbs forward for the sixth annual East Side Garden Walk this weekend.
Some of the gardens in the walk received Lunenfeld Beautification Grants, which is a grant program by Garden Walk Buffalo for nonprofit organizations in the city.
One of the places that received the grant is Corpus Christi Church on Clark Street, where volunteers transformed their gardens within a couple of months to get ready for the event.
“I really encourage people just to come out and take the ride over,” said Liz Riser, a garden coordinator at Corpus Christi Church. “Our gardens on the east side are not as compact as they are in the west side, but there’s still a lot of beautiful gardens here and a lot of people that really put a lot of time and effort into helping to make them a lovely little oasis within the city.”
Gardens Buffalo Niagara’s largest event, Garden Walk Buffalo, takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 27 and 28.
