Power outages: About 300 remain without power in WNY as severe storms hit region

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Over 25,000 NYSEG customers throughout Western New York were without power as severe storms hit the region Wednesday.

The vast majority of the outrages were reportedly in the eastern Erie County area, including Orchard Park and East Aurora, with over 20,000 customers out of power.

Power was restored to many customers throughout the afternoon. As of 9 p.m., about 300 remain without power.

A number of tornado warnings were issued for areas throughout Western New York on Wednesday afternoon, including confirmed reports of a tornado touchdown in the areas of Silver Creek, North Boston and Alden.
