Overland Park police clear scene after explosives investigation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Overland Park police were urging people to stay away from the area of W. 103rd and Metcalf where an explosives team investigated a suspicious device on Wednesday afternoon.

Police released initial information about the incident around 12:15 p.m., and gave an update just before 1 p.m. that the bomb squad determined the device is safe and they’ve cleared the incident.

Missouri Highway Patrol issues Amber Alert in Kansas City

OPPD said no businesses were evacuated and there’s no ongoing threat.
