Palestine Police: 19-year-olds arrested after stolen vehicle chase

PALESTINE, Texas (KETK) – The Palestine Police Department said that two 19-year-olds are in custody after a chase with a stolen vehicle on Friday.

According to a release, at around 11:29 a.m. on Friday a PPD officer tried to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Fifth Street and Sixth Street on a vehicle that was earlier reported as stolen in Anderson County. Officials said that the vehicle did not stop.

PPD said that after a pursuit, the vehicle stopped near Lelia Street and Oxford Road after hitting several other vehicles. Officials said the driver of the vehicle, identified as Connor Victor Schwab, 19 of Palestine, fled the scene while the passenger, identified as Susannah Elaine Toudouze, 19 of Palestine, remained in the vehicle.

According to the police, Schwab discarded a firearm, that was later discovered to be stolen, while fleeing and Toudouze was detained. PPD said that marijuana and paraphernalia was found in the passenger side of the vehicle and a small amount of cocaine was found in the back seat of the vehicle.

Officials said that PPD formed a perimeter to search for Schwab and apprehended him near Shady Oaks Street where it was discovered that he had a small amount of suspected ecstasy on his person. Schwab and Toudouze were both placed under arrest and taken to the Anderson County Jail.

Schwab is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, evading arrest or detention, two charges of possession with a controlled substance, theft of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a weapon and three charges of accident involving damage to a vehicle.

Toudouze is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
