Parent suing Limestone County Board of Education, former East Limestone High football coach
LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A parent filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the Limestone County Board of Education and former East Limestone County High School head football coach for the handling of an incident at the end of last school year.
According to court records, the Limestone County Board of Education and former East Limestone County High School football coach Zachery Woodfin are named in the lawsuit for their handling of a “horseplaying” incident.

Court records state that Alicia Grissom’s son was one of “multiple” students horseplaying during Woodfin’s class in the weight room.
Her son and the other students involved were suspended for the remainder of the school year, and given 90 days to serve in an alternative school in the fall.
Grissom argues that she wasn’t given proper notice to search counsel nor attain the “proper evidence” before her son’s disciplinary hearing. According to the court documents, Grissom received notice about her son’s hearing with the Limestone County Board of Education that was scheduled for May 21 – on May 17.
She also argues in the lawsuit that Woodfin was not seen supervising the class in surveillance video and that the principal Matt Scott nor the Director of Discipline, Shaun Butler, held him liable for the incident.
Grissom claims their lack of discipline for Woodfin shows negligence on the school board and superintendent’s part.
Woodfin is no longer employed with Limestone County Schools as he accepted a job with Madison City Schools to serve as an assistant principal at Bob Jones High School.
Grissom is seeking $500,000 in damages.
