“Unfortunately, this incident has required us to proactively shut down some of our day-to-day banking systems in order to contain and remediate the issue,” the spokesperson said.
Bank members can still access cash from ATMs, the bank told KRON4.com. Bank branches and call centers are open and operating regular business hours, however, customers are advised to expect longer wait times.
Patelco bank employees are not able to access individual account details at this time, the spokesperson said.
“We have engaged a leading third-party cybersecurity forensic firm to help us to investigate and recover as soon as possible,” the spokesperson told KRON4.com. “Please know that our team and third-party partners are working around the clock to get back up and running.”
Due to the ransomware attack, the following services are currently unavailable:
Electronic transactions such as transfers (including Zelle)
Direct deposit
Balance inquiries
Online banking bill payments
Debit and credit card transactions are functioning at a limited capacity
Cash withdrawals and deposits are still available at Patelco ATMs, the spokesperson said.
There is not an estimated time for the normal service to resume.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this cyber-attack has caused for our members,” said a bank spokesperson. “We truly appreciate your patience and support during this difficult time.”
