PCSO seeks driver involved in fatal hit-and-run crash Sunday in Lakeland
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is seeking the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday night in Lakeland.
Deputies responded at 9:43 p.m. to 10th St. N, just east of Wabash Avenue, where a 58-year-old man visiting family from Alabama had been struck by a vehicle, PCSO reported.
The victim, identified as Willie Brewer of Georgiana, Alabama, died at the scene, and his family has been notified, PCSO said.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash fled, PCSO said. The suspect vehicle is thought to be a 2010 to 2014 silver Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country van. The vehicle would have been traveling east on 10th Street when it struck the victim from behind as he was standing or walking along the side of the road, PCSO said.
