Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle on I-480 ramp identified
GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning on a local interstate has been identified.
It happened just before 11:30 a.m. on the off-ramp of Interstate 480 West to Transportation Boulevard, according to Garfield Heights Police Chief Mark Kaye.
The victim was identified as 55-year-old Maurice Montgomery of Garfield Heights, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
He was reportedly found in the road.

The incident is still under investigation and no other information has been released. It was not clear why the man was in the roadway.
Standoff in local neighborhood ends in two arrests
As of Monday, July 1, there have been 12 crashes involving pedestrians on Cuyahoga County’s portion of I-480 in the last five years, according to crash statistics from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. One of those crashes in 2021 was fatal.
