How Pennsylvania will help Harris win the White House
In a tight race for the White House, there are just 93 electoral votes up for grabs in key swing states that will decide the election.
Pennsylvania, with its 19 electoral votes, has been ground zero for both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. The result of that months-long war in the Keystone State will play out after the polls close on Tuesday.
For Harris, capturing Pennsylvania could all but guarantee her path to the White House. Here’s why.
How many electoral votes does Harris need?
As it stands, Vice President Kamala Harris is projected to lock up 226 electoral votes from blue or blue-leaning states.
Former President Donald Trump can count 219 electoral votes in his column, based on current projections.
That means Harris needs 44 more electoral votes to reach the required 270-mark, and Pennsylvania’s 19 votes provide a significant boost toward that goal. It would leave just 74 electoral votes on the table, of which Trump would need to take 51 and Harris would only need 25.
Harris would only need to take Michigan (15) and Wisconsin (10) to climb over the 270-mark.
Will Pennsylvania vote for Harris?
The polls in the battleground states have been just as back-and-forth as the name “swing state” implies, with both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris holding razor-thin margins at various times.
That indecisiveness will likely play out on Election Day as the votes are counted and the leads sway back and forth
