Pennsylvania Senate race: Bob Casey campaign opts not to waive automatic recount
(WHTM) — Incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator Bob Casey’s campaign did not waive a legally mandated automatic recount by Wednesday’s deadline, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State, however, an automatic recount has officially been triggered.
Last week’s race between Casey and Republican Dave McCormick has remained close to the half-percent margin that would trigger an automatic recount.
The recount must begin by September 20 and must be completed by November 26.
Casey’s campaign has refused to concede to McCormick, saying all votes must be counted. McCormick, on the other hand, declared victory and has been in Washington D.C. for orientation.
