Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson novels have hit the small screen on Disney+ in a series reboot titled Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The author's hit YA series was last adapted for the screen for two films in 2010 and 2013's The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters, which starred Logan Lerman as the titular demigod hero. But now it's time for a new group of talented actors to take on the mantle and bring the story to life.

Disney has shared new details about the series, including confirming the show's release date and giving viewers their first look at what they can expect.

Here is everything you need to know.

Yes, a second season of Peter Jackson and the Olympians was confirmed in February 2024 after the show's first outing received a warm welcome on Disney+.

According to reports, series two will see the return of Walker Scobell as Percy and Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri as his pals Annabeth and Grover, respectively. Disney further confirmed that their new season will see the trio "embark on a new adventure based on The Sea of Monsters", the second instalment of Riordan's book series.

Other than that, little else is currently known about what season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians might entail. However, if it sticks closely to Riordan's source text, we should be set to see Percy embark on a daring mission to save Grover from a cyclops whilst locating a golden fleece to help prevent a Titan attack on Camp Half-Blood.

Debuting on Disney+ and Hulu in December 2023, the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians was a quick hit for the streamer, attracting 26.2 million views in its first three weeks and clocking up over 110 million hours of streaming to date.

This success also resulted in the book series upon which the series is based shooting back up to the number one spot on the New York Times' bestseller list. As it stands, no release date information is currently available for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season two.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians follows Percy, the 12-year-old son of Poseidon the Greek god of the sea who is coming into his powers and when Zeus, the king of the Gods, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.

Determined to find the lightning bolt and restore order to Olympus, Percy enlists the help of his friends Annabeth and Grover for an epic adventure that will take them across the United States.

The first season of the Disney+ show takes inspiration from Riordan's first novel The Lightning Thief. There are a further five novels in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series: The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, The Last Olympian and The Chalice of the Gods.

Logan Lerman famously played Percy Jackson in two films, and there are still viewers who hope to see the actor make an appearance in the Disney+ reboot.

Unfortunately for those fans, Lerman has confirmed in interviews that they won't see him in the new TV show because he doesn't feel a cameo from him would be "interesting".

In an interview with Esquire in January 2023, Lerman said: "No one's hit me up about it, and I don't think I'm right for that anyways.

"But I also just don't even know if it's interesting to me, in terms of: I don't even know what that would be. But there's not a secret that's waiting to be announced or something like that."

Yes, a trailer was revealed for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1 in August 2023, giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect from the show.

The trailer showed Scobell as Percy and teased his confrontation with Zeus, as well as his adventure with Annabeth and Grover to find the God's lightning bolt.
