De Pere firefighters rescue 2 from inflatable boat that went over Voyager Park dam

DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – De Pere Fire Rescue units helped to rescue two occupants of a small inflatable boat after it had gone over the dam at Voyager Park.

First responders from De Pere Fire Rescue were sent to De Pere’s Voyager Park around 5 p.m. on July 27 for reports of a boat that went over the dam.

Crews quickly found the ‘small inflatable boat’ with two occupants just off the fishing pier. Firefighters were able to pull the boat and its occupants to shore with a rope.

De Pere Fire Rescue wants to remind everyone to ensure they have a properly fitting personal flotation device (PFD) for everyone on the boat and if you are venturing into new waters to please consult local bait shops or others at the launch to become aware of any hazards that may exist.

Authorities say that both people were evaluated by EMS and released at the scene.
