Person of interest identified in Old Pink arson
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A person of interest has been identified in connection with a fire in The Old Pink that destroyed the bar in June, according to Mayor Byron Brown.
The Mayor says the person is not in custody at this time, however, Buffalo Fire Investigators say that the fire was intentional.
In a statement, Filmore District Councilman Mitch Nowakowski described the fire as “a significant threat to public safety” and said that identification of the individual was thanks to both video and witness evidence. Furthermore, Nowakowski said that “investigators have made significant progress.”
The investigation is ongoing. Buffalo Fire Commissioner William Renaldo says charges won’t be filed until the investigation is complete.
Mayor Brown revealed the update in this month’s Ask the Mayor segment. You can watch the whole thing in the video player above.
