Person seriously injured in hit-and-run after Bills game
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A person was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle near Highmark Stadium following the Bills game on Sunday, according to Orchard Park police.
Police say they responded to 41 W. Abbott Grove at 4:49 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck.
Witnesses attempted to stop the alleged operator, 40-year-old Alfred Santiago, from driving as the victim was underneath the vehicle. Santiago fled the scene, weaving around vehicles and driving on the grass, according to police.
The victim suffered extensive upper body injuries and was transported by EMS to the hospital in serious condition.
Santiago was charged with leaving the scene of person injury accident with reporting, felony DWI and felony aggravated unlicensed operation due to a previous DWI conviction, among other vehicle and traffic charges.
Additional charges are expected.
The investigation is ongoing.
