Peter Andre: Jill Scott is already a winner on I'm A Celebrity

As the final on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! approaches suddenly the world is going football crazy because the World Cup has started. And the jungle has its very own football star in Jill Scott.

She has come across great from the start and I think she’s loveable and funny and such a strong contender to win the show.

When she was downing those disgusting cocktails of bugs and balls she was skulling it like a student at Freshers Week! And she stayed chilled out about getting a cockroach flushed out of her ear.

I remember having to take antihistamines for a week after I was shut in the coffin with the cockroaches and spiders. I had been bitten all over and I was weak and sickly. You go into autopilot doing trials because you’re focused on the stars and the trauma of what’s happened doesn’t hit you until after.

One Love

Outside the jungle everyone is talking about the One Love armbands worn by the England Team in Qatar and supporting Gay Pride in the face of persecution. Meanwhile, in camp Jill and Boy George had a chat about coming out.

I have a real problem with people struggling to be able to just be who they want to be. Obviously some countries have laws that are very hard to fight. But I feel like the world has changed so much for the better, even in the last 10 years.

I think back even to myself as a parent to Junior when he was a young boy telling him 'pink is for girls and blue is for boys' and 'girls kiss boys, and boys kiss girls'. And then when he was 12 I told him completely the opposite.

I guess as he’s grown up, I have grown too — telling my kids all the time now ‘I don’t care who you love as long as you treat them right. I just want you to be happy being you.’

I think it's great that Jill can be so open about who she truly is. Now she’s the last woman standing in the jungle and I hope she is proud of herself because, in that sense, she is a winner already.

Insania

The celebrities have started being voted out of the camp and watching them sit down for their first interview with Ant and Dec takes me back to just how dazed and confused I was feeling at that table.

You’ve spent weeks in this intense environment that feels like another world. You’re hungry, tired, dizzy, you’ve confronted your worst fears. And somehow that has become reality. So coming out of the jungle, all of a sudden your old life doesn't feel real anymore. You can’t remember anything you’ve said or done, but they’ve had cameras hidden everywhere filming it all.

Ant and Dec know more about what happened then you and you feel so exposed. In my case, thankfully, it was a pleasant exit, but it felt so weird.

RV-gate

Charlene White was the first voted out and she seems to have really taken it in the neck over why she wouldn’t just sleep in the RV with Matt Hancock, or at least be honest with the other campmates about why she wouldn’t do it.

It’s a tough one. You’re put in a situation you don’t want to be in. And no one should have to be forced to do anything they don't want to. But on the flip side, you have to consider how the other campmates are feeling. The viewers were annoyed and she has since had to suffer the consequences of that.

But I’m the wrong guy to talk about it because I slept in the hammock for three weeks and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Give me the hammock any day!

Hancock-ing in there

Some people are wondering how Matt Hancock has dodged eviction for so long. The great British public are very forgiving but also can be pretty fickle at times and it seems like a lot of viewers think he’s coming across really well.

That is the power of television. And that’s hard news for a lot of people who feel it’s rubbing salt into the wounds they experienced during the pandemic. It’s not for me to say if he’s a nice guy or not, I obviously do not know him personally, but some viewers seem to really like him... and to be fair to Matt Hancock, that is not his fault.

Karma Chameleon

Just like I predicted we’ve started to see the personalities of the other contestants emerge more. Some people were getting quite annoyed that Boy George hadn’t been confronted about his past, and he did not seem too pleased when Scarlette asked him to talk about it. But he was probably always going to talk about it, and this show does allow you a platform to be open and honest about things you’ve done.

I’ve always liked Boy George, he’s always been nice to me. So this is about him having a chance to tell his side of the story, and it’s up to the viewers to decide what they think.

End in sight

The celebrities’ letters from home were very touching and I’m not surprised some of them got so emotional. I’ll never forget my letter. It was pretty funny because my Dad was dropping in little Greek words that only I could understand. Viewers can’t always understand why you’re crying so much over a letter when you’ve only been away a couple of weeks. But it’s not like going on holiday — your emotions are so heightened that a letter can break you.

By this stage you start looking towards the finish line and getting out to see your loved ones — and ordering your first meal! I remember dreaming about steaks and cheese burgers.

I came out and ordered three cheeseburgers. And I only managed to eat half of one, because my stomach had shrunk so much!
