Phase three of SUN Bucks applications open, DCFS says
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Phase three of SUN Bucks applications are now open, according to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
The application period for phase three started on Monday, Aug. 19.
Though most children who qualify for SUN Bucks were automatically enrolled and given benefits during phases one and two, some eligible families will need to complete an application to get benefits.
DCFS says the application period ends on Friday, Sept. 20. Applications can be submitted online or by mail.
SUN Bucks is an initiative to support low-income families by providing grocery-buying benefits while students do not get school meals.
Each student will get a $120 EBT card which must be used 122 days after getting the card.

Eligible students include students at community eligibility provision (CEP) schools, CEP students who weren’t enrolled during phases one and two, children experiencing homelessness and migrant children, according to DCFS.
Cards from Phase two are still being issued to families. Those who expect to receive an EBT card should look for a white envelope with the eligible child’s address on it and a return address for Erie, Pennsylvania. It should have the card and instructions on how to activate it.
If you have any questions about the Sun Bucks, email [email protected] or call 833-323-7482 anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
