Photo Tripping: the Most Creative Bar in San Francisco
Episode Two: Trick Dog, San Francisco
What: Trick Dog
Why Go: My pal Rosie Schaap, author and drinks columnist for the New York Times Magazine, told me to hit Trick Dog because, “In a city known for great and original bars, Trick Dog has cultivated a reputation for creativity.” Whatever Rosie says in the drinks department, I follow.
The Vibe: It’s a mad cool, funky bar that is discreetly tucked away in the Mission District. They make great drinks, but every few months they introduce themed drinks. This month’s: The Zodiac. You can order drinks based on your astrological sign.
When to Go: 3 p.m. - 2 a.m., 7 days a week.
Where: The owners have beautifully converted a warehouse space at 3010 20th Street.
I Heard: They have some of the best french fries in town.
“Photo Tripping” is a new series from Yahoo Travel, hosted by renowned celebrity photographer Melanie Dunea (author of My Last Supper). Melanie takes us on a photographic journey as she visits America’s top cities, exploring off-the-beaten path spots to experience the best tastes, sounds, and sights the city has to offer. Going on recommendations of her friends—chefs, celebrities, tastemakers, a couple of whom even come along for the ride—we uncover some truly special places, seen through the lens of a photographer.
