Police: 5 arrested after drugs, gun seized during joint investigation in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A narcotics investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended with the arrest of five people.
The Baton Rouge Police Department started an investigation in April of this year into a group based in the city. During the investigation, “detectives obtained search warrants for the properties located in the 2600 and 2800 block of 68th Street,” BRPD said.
Those search warrants were executed by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and BRPD around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.
During the search, they uncovered drugs and a gun. BRPD said they found 4.9 grams of crack cocaine, 40 dosage units of Tramadol, 40 dosage units of dosage units of MDMA, 137.6 grams of marijuana, two dosage units of Valium, 9.5 dosage units of Adderall, 72.5 dosage units of Alprazolam, four 16 ounce bottles of promethazine and one Glock 9mm.
Cornell Brown, 23, was charged with possession of a legend drug without a prescription, simple possession of marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance and distribution of Schedule II drugs.
Reco Andrews, 47, was charged with battery of a dating partner/child endangerment and aggravated second-degree battery.
Steven McCray, 25, was charged with distribution of Schedule I, distribution of Schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Michael McCray, 45, was a fugitive from EBRSO and he was charged with distribution of Schedule I, distribution of Schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marquis Payne, 21, was charged with possession of a machine gun, distribution of Schedule II, distribution of Schedule I, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance and criminal street gangs.
According to BRPD, “Additional charges for the Criminal Street gang and other offenses committed by the suspects will be added the near future.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms also helped with this investigation.
